International Recognition Ceremony

Dorothy McAuliffe, Special Representative for Global Partnerships at the United States Department of State, in partnership with the PVBLIC Foundation, Cleantech HUB, and LCI VERITAS University in Costa Rica, launched the Climate Entrepreneurship Coalition Center (CCE) in San José, Costa Rica.

The CCE Hub Latin America from the United States Department of State is a public-private partnership to address the global warming crisis and contribute to economic empowerment in developing countries by encouraging climate-focused entrepreneurship by establishing dedicated Climate Hubs on campuses.

The center at LCI VERITAS University and centers in Guatemala and Colombia are now part of this impactful network. Thanks to a generous two-year grant of $260,000, these three centers will equip entrepreneurs in Central and South America with the necessary tools to develop sustainable and environmentally friendly business plans. Support for the center in Costa Rica amounts to about $80,000.

According to Special Representative McAuliffe, "Addressing the climate crisis has always been one of the Biden-Harris Administration's top priorities. That's why our Office's Climate Entrepreneurship Coalition leverages millions in private sector funds to support sustainability-focused founders worldwide."

In addition to campus' maker spaces,' the program's online platform will serve as a gateway to knowledge sharing within and among regional centers. This digital infrastructure, easily accessible to all, will connect entrepreneurs and partners, empowering them to collaborate on business development. The platform ensures entrepreneurial inclusivity in the journey toward sustainability by utilizing digital technologies for training, data collection, mentoring sessions, and reporting on startups' impact and development.
